She Finally Arrives!

Two day late but our little princess finally arrived. I'll save you all the gory details but let's just say that on Saturday the 21st I went into labor around midnight (contractions were about 7 minutes apart) and around 5:30 am on Sunday morning we finally made it to the emergency room (my contractions were still 7 minutes apart). I thought for sure the nurse was going to send me home but after she checked me out she found that I was dialated to a 6. So they took me back and we prepared for her arrival. Just as I was not a fan of being pregnant, I quickly discovered that I wasn't a fan of the whole labor process either. As such, I'll save you all the details of that experience. At 3:38 pm, Finley Rose Nadeau was born and we couldn't have been happier! She weighed 7lbs 15ozs and was 191/2 inches long. She has the longest fingers and toes and a head full of hair.

Being a mom has been an amazing experience. I just look at her and she puts a huge smile on my face. She's been a really sleepy baby and we've been lucky enough to get some much needed rest during this first week.

SLOW COOKER

March 20, 2009

…it’s been marked on the calendar for months and I’m afraid it’s not going to be THE day! At my last appoint the doctor said there hadn’t been any progress since my last appointment so I was a little disappointed. In any event today is our official due date and I’m still not certain if there has been any progress or not. I guess time will only tell. We have a doctor’s appointment on Monday and by that point I’ll be 3 days overdue. If she’s still cooking by next week, we’ll have an ultrasound on Thursday to give us a better idea of how big she is and when and if they need to induce me. By that point, my doctor said the chances of a c-section dramatically increase and I’m really hoping to avoid that scenario.

In any event, think good thoughts and we’re hoping she’ll come out to play soon!

7 days but who’s counting?

…they say my due date is March 20. That means in just under 7 days, we ‘should’ be meeting our little girl. I’m afraid she’s going to be late and that on March 23, I’ll be begging our doctor to induce me. At my last appointment he said that I could potentially go up to two weeks before they take any sort of action and I REALLY hope that is not the case.

She kicks A LOT! And, one of her body parts is consistently poking out of the right side of my stomach. It’s so surreal watching her move around and it’s amazing to think that in just a short time she’ll be here!

A brief hiatus and now I’m back!

So…it’s been a long while and I’ve had really good intentions but I just haven’t followed through. Work has been absolutely nuts! And, on top of that I think I’m nesting in a pretty big way. This condo is small and we have received a lot of stuff so each weekend I try to figure out a way to keep it neat and tidy while accommodating the extra gear.

Friday is my last day at the office and trying to prepare for 3 months of being gone hasn’t been an easy task. The good thing is I’ll be working from home for a couple weeks so I hope the transition works itself out.

We still don’t have an official name for our little girl but at this point we might as well just wait until she arrives to officially announce our decision. I’m still leaning towards Finley but just can’t get Jeff to commit.

We had 4 fabulous baby showers and I’m so thankful for all of my friends and family who made us feel so loved. Jeff’s work gave us a swing and dinner service for after the baby arrives. His shower was a surprise and for those of you who know Jeff, he’s not a big fan of surprises. To make it even more stressful for him, they asked that I show up as part of the surprise. Double whammy! He turned out to be a pretty good sport about the ordeal. I ended up being more stressed about springing a ‘surprise’ on him then he turned out to be.

Our second shower was at my mom’s house and lots of friends and family showed up. I even drug Natalie, Stephanie, Jen, and Lexie to the event and we played a couple games (yellow bunting anyone??) which I’m sure that the girls can’t wait to play again someday. My mom and sister-in-law put together some great food, a slide show (featuring Jeff as Superman), and party.

The third shower was put on by Jen and was absolutely fabulous. It was at Tulio restaurant in downtown and all of the girls showed up. I can’t say enough about how great it was to see everyone and absolutely cannot wait to introduce our little girl to all of them. Also, a major slam dunk on the art corner, sherbert floats, and activities. It was also such a treat to see some of the girls I haven't seen in awhile including Miranda, Amy, Joci, and Sarah. As well as spend some time with those who I have the pleasure of seeing much more frequently!

Our final shower was thrown by the girls at the office. They organized such a great little soiree and gave us our baby food cooker, some great Kiehl’s baby products and a gift certificate to Amazon. I absolutely can ‘t wait to put together my first veggie concoction, do a little more shopping, and lather our little girl in some sweet smelling lotion. :)

Now that we’ve been indulged with 4 great parties, I think we’re finally ready to have our little one join us. I’ll keep you all updated on our next few weeks and hopefully we’ll have a BIG announcement soon.
